The Story Behind Shark Heritage
From a love of the ocean
I’ve always been drawn to the ocean’s biggest creatures. As a lifelong whale lover, swimming alongside some of the largest animals on Earth completely changed my perspective on life.
It wasn’t long before that fascination led me to sharks—animals I find beautiful, captivating, and deeply misunderstood. I had the chance to swim with blue sharks for the first time in Baja a few years back. Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to share the water with many other shark species, and swimming with a smooth hammerhead was a dream come true. There’s something about these extraordinary animals that never stops amazing me.
From that point on, I started playing with the idea of creating jewelry to honor these remarkable animals. That idea eventually became Shark Heritage.
Ancient teeth deserve thoughtful design
During my travels, I often noticed surfers and divers wearing shark tooth necklaces. I loved the idea, but the jewelry itself rarely reflected how remarkable the tooth really was. Most pieces I saw were wrapped in wire or cotton cord, and I imagined something much more refined.
Fresh shark teeth were never an option for me. Their origin mattered, and without knowing how they had been collected, I couldn’t feel comfortable using them. I also didn’t want to give anyone the idea that wearing fresh shark teeth is okay, potentially encouraging demand for the shark jaw trade.
Fossilized teeth offered a way to celebrate sharks through something they left behind millions of years ago. I found that incredible: a small piece of our Earth’s history, preserved across unimaginable stretches of time, that you could actually hold in your hand.
Something that old deserves to look beautiful—and the jewelry built around it deserves to last.
That thought became the starting point for months of research and experimentation. I explored materials, designs, and ways to carefully drill and set the teeth while allowing their natural character to remain the focus.
Slowly, Shark Heritage came to life.
Made by my hands
To this day, every tooth used in Shark Heritage jewelry passes through my hands. I personally make every pendant in my small workshop in the Czech Republic, carefully selecting and inspecting each fossil before turning it into a finished piece.
Working with these teeth is still one of my favorite parts of what I do. Their different shapes, colors, and textures mean there is always something new to admire. No two are exactly alike, and that individuality is part of their beauty.
I pair them with carefully chosen materials, including natural gemstones, 316L stainless steel, and options finished with 18k gold PVD plating, to create jewelry that brings together ancient history and thoughtful design.
For me, this work is a way to honor the ocean’s remarkable predators while giving people something truly unique to wear.
